Google map, “high art,” and “kitsch”. What would happen when visual arts meet uncanny geographical names?
I wanted to explore the fragile relation between the representation and the represented. What Saussure terms as the signifier (sth. visual, linguistic, tangible, material, etc) is usually arbitrarily linked to the signified (concept). We need to break the already-fixed links among image, writing, and meaning in order to build new ones.
